A quacking start to 2018!

 

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Lucky Duck charity events on January 12th, 13th and 14th! We raised £400 which is an eggcellent start to the year.Unfortunately the year wasn’t a great start for our walk leader Maria. She took a tumble and dislocated her shoulder. She is recovering and thanks everyone for their kind messages. The diary has had a few updates as it is not possible to sustain the energy of all 17 walks. There is just three Friday walks in the month, and three 8am Saturday Early Birds.

We are also ramping up the gear, or rather pace, for our Nordic Walking Reading Half Marathoners!
We have hi jacked some of the sessions and extended them by half an hour so that our Reading Half Marathon team can have a taste of racing pace and really munch those miles. These are open to those who are able to sustain this moderate to strenuous pace.

It’s nearly Spring and already some of the smile-inducing colourful flowers are coming through! Share your photos to our Facebook group! We shall also be having a spring clean of our program. Do you have a favourite walk or session that you want to make sure we save for the new program?

Learn to Nordic Walk

We are using the central location Prospect Park for all our Taster sessions and beginner courses.

We have participants from Windsor, Basingstoke, Newbury, not just Reading. The park has the perfect terrain for training, parking facilities and the Mansion House for refreshments.

Saturday 17th February 2pm
Free taster session.

Saturday 24th February 1pm-3pm
2 Hour Learn to Nordic Walk.

Saturday 17th March 2pm
Free taster session

Prospect Park Saturday 24th March 1pm-3pm –
2 hour Learn To Nordic Walk

Monday –
Any Kickstart Monday – Prospect Park 10am
Easy Sulham Circulars (90 mins) – Sulham Woods 1.30pm
Moderate Urban Poling Circulars (90mins) – Prospect Park 6.15pm

Tuesday – New Start Time (Caversham)
Easy Charlotte’s Thameside Saunters 1.00pm  90 minute Circular walks

Wednesday –
Any Thatcham Nordic walking for fitness and smiles 10.30am
Moderate GlowWorm Canters  – 90 mins Caversham Rowing Club 6.30pm

Thursday –
Any Nordic Fitness walks – Linear Park 10.00am
Any Tilehurst Urban Poling – Cotswold Sports Centre  90 minutes 6pm

Friday –
Any Explore Berkshire Adventure Walks from different locations 10.00am – 12.00pm

Saturday  
Any 60 minute Early Bird Canal stride out 8am
Moderate walk  90 minute Cardio Canal stride outs 9.15pm

Why not try some of our workout classes back to back! Perfect way to train up for a challenge or get Ski fit for the winter!

30th March Good Friday Group Walk

Pack the smiles for the miles as we Nordic walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal, climb up to Greenham Common, stomp around the historical airbase grounds and head back. Allow 4 hours and pack a mini picnic and drinks to enjoy on the hoof.
Approximately 20km; looping back system applies!

Why not stop for a pub lunch after!
