December 2017 Newsletter

Ho! Ho! oh no! December already?

Here we are, ready for the final month of the year! Let’s make every count and ensure we do not fall fowl of the Turkey burpers!

Our feature photo shows off our wonderful Nordic Walking Santas at last years Santa Run. Have you had a chance to register and join us this year? Be quick!We shall be closed for Christmas after our Christmas walk on the 16th December. We shall be back for a pre New Year  special on the 30th December. Why not join us and enjoy a bacon roll and Bucks Fizz afterwards.
We are then officially back on Thursday 4th January, 2018.

If you are stuck for Christmas ideas we have our 3JFitness Gift Vouchers plus there are a heap of ideas on the online store, including a special calendar!

Our Reading Half Marathon training has now started but there is still time to get involved. Our weekly program will get you through Christmas and the winter bug season. We train you up slowly to be strong and resilient! Again, just sign up for your place and then book on to our walks to keep yourself focused.

We shall wish you an early Merry Christmas just in case we don’t get to see some of you on our walks this month. Stay warm and bug-free! As always, thank you for your support. Without you, we are not 3JFitness!

16th December: Walk up an appetite for our Christmas Walk and Lunch, at the Packhorse, near Mapledurham. Just £35 inclusive. Payable direct to Janine, call or email for details
This event is now full but we have a waiting list.
30th December: Bucks Fizz and Bacon Butty walk – end the year with new friends made, ready to stride out in to the new Year. This is figure-of-8 walk to see in 201-8. Mileage to be confirmed but about 7 miles, on mostly flat terrain. £9 for the walk, payable in advance. £6 for brunch, payable on the day direct to Focus and Hound.
Get Involved with our human powered Lucky Duck Race!
13th – 14th January, 2018

We are the proud creators of the Lucky Duck Race and on a mission to raise £2,000 for the children’s charity Whizzkidz; they provide disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods. You simply sign up, do your miles, either running, walking, nordic walking, for example then send proof of the distance recorded on any of the many (free) apps or step gadgets such as Fitbit. Everyone receives a special medal and racing duck!  Read more on the website.

There are four Challenge Series Training dates online for
20th January, 3rd February, 17th February and 3rd March.
Please do sign up for these as we shall incorporate hydration, nutrition, kit and stamina training.
There are some extended sessions in February and March to help with pace and distance.

We were a success at the 2017 event and will inspire Berkshire again!
Let’s keep you safe, on time and avoid getting lost getting to our walks.
Our online booking in system will give you the approximate position of where the walks start.
The system uses google maps and is built into the system. The Google map pin is often placed in correct place but by the default the address it gives is usually something close by. So we add in directions to the venue details script.
Please do double check the directions before leaving so that you know where to go.
For example, The Fox and Hounds, Theale, venue map pin states you park at Greenray Cottages near Sulhampstead.
The directions script gives more information:-  Fox and Hound pub, Theale, off Station Road (from Theale station), onto Hangar Lane and Deans Copse Road (or other way around if you come from the south side).
If you experience a problem finding us, please do let us know so we can clarify the directions. We want to keep you safe and on time.
From January 1st, 2018,
our standard walk prices will increase by a £1. We always offer fantastic value, with at least 16 regular walks to choose from.
